Parents Powered for Policy Change
On April 27th, we're kicking off our Parents Powered for Policy Change Advocacy Training course!
This program is applying an equity lens on health and wellbeing, early literacy, child-family and education policies that enable ALL children to thrive.
The course will encompass 6 weeks of advocacy training with practical experiences for parents and caregivers to engage with community leaders from dynamic organizations such as the Education Trust-Midwest, Teach for America, MI League for Public Policy, ACLU and more!
Powerful Parents Equity Cafe
Every Powerful Parents Equity café will be a conversation with special guests, information, and resources focused on creating equitable access and outcomes in our community.
This Month: What Will It Take for All Families to Thrive?
This month we will be having a conversation with Denise Smith, Director of Implementation at Hope Starts Here, and Jaye Clements, Director of Community Health Programs & Strategies at Henry Ford Health Systems.
Friday Family Day
DPN is closing out the Month of the Young Child with our very own Powerful Parent Celebration! We're inviting all of our members to join us on-site for a socially distanced, outdoor Family Day.
Featuring family activities with a special focus on pregnant families, infants to 8 years old, college and careers for youth and adults, and advocacy & action; as well as music, book giveaways, and groceries for families to take home from Wayne County Disability Network!
We'll also have the Wayne Health Mobile Unit on-site for COVID-19 Testing and Vaccinations, no appointment necessary.
All activities are open to the public. In-Person attendees must maintain social distancing and wear a mask at all times.
DPN and our partners at Wayne Health are still focused on crushing COVID!
The Wayne Health Mobile Unit will be offering Free COVID-19 Testing and Vaccinations on Friday at our Family Day celebration! The Wayne Health Physician Group will be providing the first dose of the Moderna Vaccine, no appointment necessary. The clinic will also be providing COVID-19 testing.
Family Health Advocates from DPN will also be present with the Mobile Unit to connect patients to related services and follow-up health care as needed.
