The East Side of Detroit spans east from I-75 to the eastern boundry of the city and south from 8 Mile to the riverfront. The East Side is known for its Southern-like hospitality, love, and mutual support. There are many important locations on the East Side, including Belle Isle State Park, Heilmann Recreation Center, Coleman A. Young Recreation Center, SAY Play Detroit, Lasky Recreation Center, and the Wayne County Community College Eastern Campus.
Detroit Parent Network serves the 48205, 48207, 48212, 48213, 48214, 48215, 48224, and 48234 zip codes on the East Side. Detroit Parent Network provides parents with classes and workshops such as Project Graduation, Pathways to Excellence, and Pathway to Literacy which uplift parents as their child’s first teacher, as a leader, and give them access to resources for them and their children. In addition, Detroit Parent Network partners with Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan to deliver food distributions and workshops at six sites throughout the East Side.
